SRINAGAR (Sarzameen News)- After quitting as Chief Minister following the withdrawal of support to her government, the PDP President Mehbooba Mufti said ‘Kashmir can’t be treated as enemy territory.
According to the local media reports, addressing a presser here at her Gupkar residence, Mehbooba said that we did not form this alliance for power. I have submitted my resignation to the Governor and told him that we are not looking to explore any other alliance.
One can’t treat Jammu and Kashmir as enemy territory–muscular policy can’t succeed here, she said.
Asked about the exit of BJP, Mehbooba said that she was not shocked by the exit of her alliance partner BJP in Jammu and Kashmir government.
She said that though the alliance between PDP and BJP was against the aspirations of people but despite that we forged an alliance with the BJP with an aim to preserve the special status of the state, build an atmosphere of reconciliation. We didn’t forge an alliance for the lust of the power but it was for a bigger motive including unilateral ceasefire, PM’s visit to Pakistan, withdrawal of cases against 11,000 youth, she said.
She said that in the four years of PDP’s tenure they did their best to protect the Article 370 We did everything to defend Article 370 in the court, she added.
She said that the reconciliation is the only agenda of PDP and they tried their best to take the steps forward in this regard.
Mehbooba said that the Ramadhan ceasefire brought relief to the people but unfortunately the other side didn’t reciprocate.
She later said that they (PDP) won’t forge any new alliance to form the next dispensation in the state.
