Pakistan move into final of Asian Div III Rugby in Kazakhstan

LAHORE (APP) – Pakistan thrashed Kirgizstan 82-0 to roar into the final of Asian Div III Rugby Championship on Wednesday at Almaty, Kazakhstan.

With a thumping win in a one sided semi final, Pakistan set a show down in the final with hosts Kazakhstan which beat Magnolia 55-6.
The final will be played on May 19.

According to information provided by Pakistan Rugby Union to APP here, Pakistan 15 side team kept their ever struggling opponent with aggressive approach and collect efforts, taking control right from the start till end of the play.

Pakistan team performance was at the peak as it finished the first half with unchallengeable 45-0 lead. Pak players repeated their sterling performance with a rousing display of technique and prowess to remain unbeatable at the score sheet.

From Pakistani side Ali Khan and Muhammad Shoaib Akbar both scored 3,3 tries each, Saad Arif and Adnan Saeed both shared 2, 2 tries each while Anjum Sajjad, Nasir Mehmood, Muhammad Haroon and Muhammad Waqas all scoring one try each.

Pakistan team head coach Shakeel Ahmed Malik praised the performance of the team and termed reaching the final a big achievement.

“We will be going into the final with a mindset of victory which could only be possible with a undying approach and united efforts of players”,he said.

He said Kazakhstan will be a tough team to beat in the final and called upon the players to put in extra ordinary efforts for achieving success in the final.

Meanwhile Chairman, Pakistan Rugby union Fawzi Khawaja expressed his delight on team making it.

“Indeed it was a very brilliant show on part of our team in the semi final and we look forward to a similar performance in the final”, he added.
