Intoxicated Sridevi drowned in bathtub: forensic report

(Web Desk) – Dubai police have released forensic report of late Sridevi’s body asserting that she didn’t die of cardiac arrest but of accidental drowning in a bathtub under the influence of alcohol, gulfnews.com reported Monday.

Sridevi passed away at the age of 55 in Dubai last week when she was there with her family to attend a wedding.

Extensive media coverage of Bollywood legend’s death reported that she passed away of cardiac arrest but the forensic report asserts differently. The report has been handed over to the bereaved family and the Indian Consulate in Dubai.

However, Forensic Medicine Department of Dubai announced earlier today that a comprehensive and complete forensic report in the incident was yet to be issued.

The officials said that there could be a delay in transference of mortal remains of the Bollywood star to India.

Toxicology report of blood and organs is to further reveal the cause, the international media outlet reported.

Born as Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan, Sridevi worked in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films before entering Hindi films. She started acting in the late 1960s, but her performance in Malayalam film Poombata (1971) won her the state award for best child artist.

Sridevi made her Bollywood debut as a child artist in Julie (1975). Her first adult role was at the age of 13 in Tamil film Moondru Mudichu (1976). Sridevi went on to become one of the biggest female stars India ever had. The government of India awarded her Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian honour, in 2013.

Sridevi is survived by Boney Kapoor and two daughters – Janhvi and Khushi. She was Boney’s second wife. Her elder daughter Janhvi is set to make her Bollywood debut this year with Karan Johar’s directorial Dhadak.
