ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Pakistan has strongly condemned the terrorist attack at the military academy in Kabul today (Monday).
Gunmen and suicide bombers launched a pre-dawn attack claimed by the Islamic State group on Afghan army battalion, killing 11 soldiers in the third major assault in the Afghan capital in recent days.
“We convey our sincere condolences at the loss of precious human lives in this attack,” the foreign office spokesperson stated in a press release.
“The Government and the people of Pakistan convey solidarity and support to the Government and people of Afghanistan on this attack. We convey our deepest sympathies with the families of those who have lost their loved ones and pray for the early recovery of the injured. Pakistanis feel the intense pain and agony of our Afghan brothers and sisters.”
Islamabad reiterated its strong condemnation of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, especially the series of heinous attacks within the last week in Afghanistan.
The FO spokesperson said is clearly enunciated in Paigham-e-Pakistan – the fatwa issued unanimously by more than 1800 Pakistani Ulema of all schools of thought stipulating that no cause or ends justify acts of terrorism and condemning suicide bombings.
“We emphasize the need for concerted efforts and effective cooperation among all states to eradicate the scourge of terrorism,” he added.
The series of assaults, including one of the deadliest bombs in Kabul in recent years, have left already war-weary citizens grief-stricken and angry as the Taliban and IS escalate their offensive.
