No political patronage to Rao Anwar: Khursheed Shah

ISLAMABAD (Sarzameen News)- Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Syed Khursheed Shah, on Monday claimed that PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari was not patronising Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Malir Rao Anwar.

As the demand to hold SSP Rao Anwar accountable for his alleged fake encounters gathers steam, PPP leader Syed Khursheed Shah came forward and rejected claims that former President Asif Ali Zardari was patronising the suspended cop.

“I want to state categorically that Asif Ali Zardari is not supporting or patronising Rao Anwar,” he said. “An innocent person (Naqeeb) has been martyred and justice should be dispensed in the case,” he added in a statement Monday.

Extending condolences with the bereaved family of Naqeebullah, Shah urged authorities to ensure justice to the family.

Khursheed Shah hoped that a judicial inquiry into the matter would be held and that a judge from the apex court or high court would head it.
