PESHAWAR (Sarzameen News) – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government on Thursday decided to lodge an FIR against Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali and other top officials for firing teargas on the convoy of Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and preventing them from entering Punjab.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Mushtaq Ghani announced that Federal Interior Minister, Federal Interior Secretary, IG Punjab, IG FC and others would be named in the FIR on charges of attacking the convoy of Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on October 31.
The convoy came under heavy teargas shelling at Swabi Interchange first before being stopped again at Burhan Interchange.
Police and FC personnel fired hundreds of teargas shells on the Khattak’s convoy and forced it to retreat to Swabi.
The Khattak-led convoy was to get to Bani Gali, the residence of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, in Islamabad as part of his announcement to shut down the capital city on November 2. But Khan abruptly called off his protest after the Supreme Court agreed to set up a commission to launch a probe into the Panama Leaks.
Chaudhry Nisar defended the use of teargas, saying the chief minister wanted to invade Islamabad.
